I don't even need (or want, really) the shiny graphics of Fallout 4 (though the improved gunplay would be nice). But having the same story, characters, narrative, easter eggs, locations, items, and everything from 1 and 2 made in a modern engine ? Take my fucking money right this instant. Maybe it's because I'm a "young" guy (21) who discovered videogames mostly in the form of FPS and/or real-time games, but even though I do see the fun in turn-based combat, and even though I do enjoy turn-based combat in other things like D&D, when it comes to videogames, it just doesn't work as well for me. Because although I love the idea behind them, I just can't bring myself to enjoy isometric, turn-based games the same way I enjoyed Fallout 3, NV, and 4. Not only that, they're also responsible for spawning my favorite video game franchise, Fallout, and eventually the game in which I've sunken the most obscene amount of time in, Fallout: New Vegas.Īnd yet, despite that, they're two of my least played games on Steam. As for your bonus question, that would honestly depend on how it's handled, but I think they'd be playing with fire by doing so.įallout 1 and 2 are both fantastic games, with awesome ideas, mechanics and content, from the pure awesome to the downright hilarious. So while a remake could appeal to me, it could also be so far removed from what I enjoyed about the classics that I'm just wholly uninterested in it.
FALLOUT 1 AND 2 REMAKE SERIES
I'm definitely hesitant about buying more Fallout games at this point in time, because I feel the series is moving in a direction that's not for me. If Bethesda were going to do this, I'd certainly hope they'd entertain the idea of contracting writers from FO1/2 (and perhaps even NV) to contribute, if only to offer insight into the thought process behind the classics, which I feel would serve to only strengthen any additional lore they were going to implement.īut again, I honestly couldn't say either way if I'd be keen for this. Not to mention, I feel radiant quests are always kind of uninspired, generic and boring (in any game, not just FO4) and I'd rather have interesting, dynamic or even just quests that tie into the lore of the area, which radiant quests can't exactly do well. I know some people like that kind of thing, but I'm the kind of person that basically likes to clear areas out of quests and move on, so I find having an infinite number of quests kind of irritating, ha.

It's the only way I can see them keeping the sheer size of the area in the original games and I feel like trying to scale them down to be more like FO4's map size wouldn't really work, so hubs is the only real option I can see.Īlso, expanding things like this would also mean filling it out with quests and I really wouldn't want to see procedurally generated radiant quests put in the game, as I feel they're kind of a detriment. If they wanted to keep the scale of the maps, I suppose they could copy S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Call of Pripyat and have large hubs with a tonne of areas and you just travel between these hubs. Translating it to a 3D engine would require expanding the locations and basically entirely creating a world outside of those locations (as well as other, new locations, I guess), as the old map travel system wouldn't really work anymore. I feel that much of it would be lost in translation to 3D and/or would be so different that it's basically an entirely different game. r/galaxynewsradio - Fallout-sounding musicĮhhhhh, I honestly can't say. r/falloutcosplayers - Fallout-related cosplay r/Wasteland - A subreddit for the Wasteland games.
